Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 2026 · Applies to the TripShare Atlas Android application
This Privacy Policy explains what information the TripShare Atlas mobile app ("the app", "we", "us") collects, why we collect it, and how it is handled. By creating an account and using the app, you agree to the practices described here.
1.Who we are
TripShare Atlas is an independently developed Android app that helps groups of people split shared expenses and track who owes whom. For any privacy-related question you can reach the developer at divyanshuprakash780@gmail.com.
2.Information we collect
We collect only the information needed for the app to function:
- Account information — your display name and email address, provided when you sign up with email and password or with Google Sign-In.
- Expense and trip data — the trips you create or join, expense titles, amounts, categories, notes, payers, split details, settlements, and activity-log entries you generate within the app.
- Profile preferences — your chosen avatar emoji and preferred currency.
- Diagnostic data — anonymous crash reports and basic usage analytics, used to keep the app stable and improve it.
We do not collect your contacts, photos, precise location, phone number, payment-card details, or financial-account credentials. TripShare Atlas does not process real money or connect to banks — "settlements" are simply records of payments you make outside the app.
3.How we use your information
Your information is used solely to:
- Create and secure your account and authenticate you when you sign in;
- Display your name to other members of trips you join, so balances are meaningful;
- Store, sync, and show your trips, expenses, balances, and settlements across devices in real time;
- Diagnose crashes and understand general usage so we can fix bugs and improve the app.
We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell or rent it to anyone.
4.How your data is stored and processed
TripShare Atlas is built on Google Firebase, a cloud platform provided by Google. The following Firebase services process your data on our behalf:
- Firebase Authentication — manages sign-up, sign-in, and email verification.
- Cloud Firestore — securely stores your trips, expenses, balances, and settlements.
- Firebase Crashlytics & Analytics — collect anonymous crash and usage diagnostics.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging — delivers app notifications.
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and stored on Google's secure infrastructure. Access is restricted by server-side security rules so that only members of a trip can read that trip's data. Google's handling of this data is governed by the Firebase Privacy and Security policy and the Google Privacy Policy.
5.Sharing your information
We do not share your personal information with third parties, except:
- With other trip members — your display name and the expenses, settlements, and activity you create are visible to other members of the trips you join. This is core to how group splitting works.
- With Google Firebase — as the infrastructure provider described in Section 4.
- Where required by law — if compelled by a valid legal request.
6.Data retention & account deletion
Your data is kept for as long as your account is active. You are in control:
- You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete Account inside the app — see our Delete Your Account page for the full steps.
- Deleting your account removes your authentication record and your personal profile data.
- Expenses you added to shared trips may remain visible to other members so their balances stay accurate, but they are no longer linked to an active account.
- If you would like assistance with deletion, email divyanshuprakash780@gmail.com and we will action your request.
7.Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. You can update your name and preferences directly in the app, delete your account as described above, or contact us to exercise any other right.
8.Children's privacy
TripShare Atlas is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us so we can remove it.
9.Security
We rely on Google Firebase's industry-standard security, encrypted connections, and server-side access rules to protect your data. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10.Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes may also be communicated within the app. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
11.Contact us
If you have any questions, concerns, or requests regarding this Privacy Policy or your data, contact the developer at divyanshuprakash780@gmail.com.
